Zoals de titel doet vermoeden, doe ik het momenteel een beetje rustig aan achter de naaimachien. Ik ben bezig met een jurk, Ceylon van Colette Patterns. Ik vind het een prachtig model, maar het is best een moeilijke. En dus probeer ik het zo rustig mogelijk aan te doen en niet te lang achter elkaar eraan te werken.
As the title of this post shows, I’m taking it slow at the moment. I’m working on a Ceylon dress. I love the pattern, but I find it a bit hard. Not too hard, but hard enough to take my time with it and not work on it for too long to keep my focus.
Dit is hoe ver ik tot nu toe ben gekomen. De mouwen moeten er nog aan, de knopen en knoopsgaten (alle 16…) en de zoom. Ik moet nog een beetje pielen met de rug, die is wat te groot. Maar ik denk dat dat wel gaat lukken.
This is how far I am. It just needs the sleeves, the buttons and buttonholes (all 16 of them…) and the hem. I also need to fiddle with the upper back a bit as it’s too big, but that will probably work out fine.
Waar ik ook nog steeds mee bezig ben is de Miette. Ik heb het lijfje af, nu de mouwen nog en de rand rond de hals en voor de knopen. Voor de mouwen heb ik aparte naalden nodig, die moet ik nog even kopen.
The other thing I’m still working on is my Miette cardigan. I finished the bodice, and have the sleeves and button- and neckband to go. For the sleeves I need other needles, that I still have to buy.
Het kantpatroontje aan de onderkant is niet helemaal goed gegaan vermoed ik, ik kwam helemaal niet uit met de instructies en het aantal steken. Ach ja, je kan niet alles meteen de eerste keer goed doen he 😉
The lace pattern didn’t go according to plan I think, because the stitches I had left on the needle on the last row somehow didn’t match the instructions. Ah well, can’t win them all I guess 😉

Ik snap het gevoel! Ik ben momenteel bezig met een toile voor de macaron van colette, en da’s een absolute ramp in het lijfje. Maar die van jou ziet er prachtig uit al!
dank je wel! macaron is ook al zo’n tof patroon. Wel jammer dat je hem moet aanpassen. Succes ermee, je had mooie stoffen uitgezocht ervoor!

The ceylon looks like it’s coming along well, you might be able to cheat and get the buttonholes done professionally?

Your Ceylon dress is coming along fine!! I remember making a floral version of the Ceyon dress some time ago and I had to ask my mum to help me with some of the dress constrction, especially with adding the piping around the yoke but it came out fine.
As you said take your time on this project – and I can’t wait to see the finished dress – don’t forget to post it in the ceylon section of Flickr!!

The Ceylon looks like it will be beautiful! Can’t wait to see it finished. I started a muslin of Ceylon a while back and put it aside. This makes me want to work on it again. I too found that it is WAY too big in the back.
I think colette patterns are made for american football players.. every pattern I made from them is big in the back. Except for the Macaron, for some reason.

Your Ceylon is looking lovely so far! Can’t wait to see it completed and on. I’ve made it once, and definitely found its construction a departure from what I’m used to in most commercial patterns. It was actually the first Colette pattern I sewed!
Thank you 🙂 The construction is different, but it’s also used on the Marcaron so it wasn’t completely new to me. I just wish I hadn’t serged everything before checking the fit… haha!
