Hebben jullie dat ook wel eens, dat je al tijden met een idee loopt, maar het er steeds maar niet van komt om het uit te voeren? Dat had ik met dit rokje. Toen ik een maand of 2 op naailes zat ging ik voor mijn werk naar een cursus in Gent. Daar zag ik iemand lopen met een simpel, maar heel leuk rokje. Groen, met steekzakken en een paspelbandje. Ik nam me meteen voor om ook zo’n rokje te maken en bestelde toen ik thuis kwam een meter groene katoen en een stuk zwarte paspel. Dat is nu een dikke anderhalf jaar geleden.
Sometimes when I have an idea, I just don’t get around to making it. Do you have that too? When I had been taking sewing classes for about two months, I had to go on a course for work. There was a girl there with a very nice skirt. It was pretty simple, green, slash pockets and piping. Immediately I decided I had to make a skirt just like it. As soon as I got home, I ordered a meter of green cotton and some black piping. That was about a year and a half ago.
Vorige week begon ik eraan, en dinsdag was ‘ie dan af. Het heeft even geduurd dus, maar dan heb je ook wat 🙂 Mijn camera had vandaag niet z’n beste dag, de kleur op bovenstaande foto wijkt wat af van hoe die in het echt is.
Last week I finally started it, and tueday it was finished. Let’s say I took my time with this idea 🙂 My camera had a bit of an off-day, the colour on this photo looks a bit different than it is.
Het patroon hadden jullie vast al geraden, ik heb het al vaker gemaakt: Simplicity 2451. Zo’n fijn modelletje, makkelijk maar de plooien in het voorpand maken het toch net een beetje anders. Het was de eerste keer dat ik met paspelband werkte, en ik weet niet waarom, maar dat leek me heel moeilijk. Uiteraard kwam ik er al snel achter dat het dat helemaal niet is!
You’ve probably guessed which pattern this is: Simplicity 2451. Such a nice pattern, easy and the pleats add a nice interest. This was the first time I worked with piping, and I don’t know why but I thought it would be really hard. Of course I quickly found out that it isn’t at all!
Dit rokje is niet het enige waar ik de afgelopen tijd mee bezig ben geweest. Zoals ik eerder dit jaar al zei, ben ik van plan om dit jaar een vest te breien. En daar ben ik inmiddels mee begonnen!
This skirt is not the only thing I’ve been working on lately. As I said earlier this year I want to knit a cardigan this year. I’m please to say that I’ve already started it!
Het is de Miette cardigan, en tot nu toe gaat het aardig goed (oke, ik heb de eerste 3 rijen wel vijf keer opnieuw gebreid maar laten we het daar verder niet over hebben :D). Toen ik het patroon voor het eerst las snapte ik er he-le-maal niks van, maar met hulp van YouTube en Gail’s Miette knitalong bleek het toch niet zo moeilijk (ik zie hier een patroon, haha).
This is the Miette cardigan, and so far things are going pretty good (let’s just not mention that I’ve knitted the first 3 rows about five times :D). When I read the pattern for the first time it didn’t make any sense to me but with the help of YouTube and Gails Miette knitalong it turned out to be quite easy (I see a pattern here, haha).
De kleur is iets grijzer dan op de foto, donkergrijs met een klein beetje paars erin, het is Paris van Drops (kleurnummer 24). 100% katoen, lekker zacht. Ik ben heel benieuwd hoe het verder gaat, of het allemaal gaat lukken en passen!
The colour is a bit more grey than in this picture, it’s dark grey with a hint of purple. It’s Paris from Drops (colour 24), 100% cotton, nice and soft. I’m looking forward on making some progress with it, to see if it’s going to work out and fit well!

It is! I put a lining in, the fabric was a bit see-through, so maybe it’s a bit sweaty for summer. But I have plenty other skirts for summer 🙂
Leuk rokje! Ik heb ook nog wel een aantal van die projecten liggen. Die heb ik ooit bedacht maar ik kom er niet aan toe.
Ik ben benieuwd naar jouw Miette, heb nu een aantal versies voorbij zien komen. Het is echt een mooi patroon. Wie weet waag ik me er ook ooit nog eens aan. Maar ik wil nu eerst wat van mijn voorraad wol wegwerken, dus voorlopig hou ik me daar mee bezig.

Yes, make it again! The skirts I’ve made from this pattern are my go-to skirts when I don’t know what to wear.
Hooray for Miettes! It was my first cardigan and i love it! I may make another one in the future in another colour with slight alterations (just starting the bust-waist decreases a couple inches lower). It’s a great pattern, and love your colour.
I love it so far, it isn’t half as difficult as I thought it would be. I hope it turns out to be fitting as well as yours!
It’s a really lovely skirt – I absolutely adore the fabric and the piping detail is spot on!!
Each I visit the Netherlands – well actually Amsterdam, I always make a beeline for the fabric (stoffen) shops and market on Albert Cryptstraat (I don’t think I’ve spelt that properly!!) It’s a bit like Waltamstow market in London – lots of variety to chose from, I have found some great finds out there and am building up an impressive stash of Dutch fabrics!!
By the way, would you be able to suggest any sewing cafes in the Netherlands? – the next time I’m out there, it’s be nice to participate in a workshop

Ik vind het ook wel een beetje grappig om dit rokje hier tegen te komen want ik ben nu hetzelfde patroon aan het naaien en ik ben op dezelfde plaatsen piping aan het toevoegen. Dat is toch wel toevallig =)
