Eigenlijk wilde ik dit weekend bloggen over mijn nieuwe rokje. Maar ik ben niet helemaal fit helaas, en dus lig ik onder een dekentje op de bank een beetje te lummelen. Een mooie gelegenheid om naar aanleiding van Gillians blogpost een ‘personal colour palette’ te maken.

This weekend I wanted to blog about my new skirt. But as I’m feeling a bit under the weather, I’m lounging around on the couch with my blanket. The perfect opportunity to make a ‘personal colour palette’, inspired by Gillians blogpost.

Helaas wilde het in Open Office niet omdat het pipetje er niet in zat en dus haalde ik mijn grote vriend Paint weer es van stal. Dat ging prima. Daarna plakte ik met PicMonkey de fotootjes erbij. Hartstikke simpel!

Unfortunately, Open Office didn’t offer the colour picking tool, so I turned to my old friend Paint. That went smoothly. Then I used PicMonkey to add the photo’s. Easy as that!

Leuk om te doen, zo’n colour palette maken! Toen ik net begon met naaien realiseerde ik me waarom ik vaak het gevoel had dat ik er altijd hetzelfde bij liep:  90% van mijn kleren was zwart, donkerblauw of spijkerstof.. Terugkijkend had dat heel veel te maken met onzekerheid en niet teveel willen opvallen. Ik nam me toen voor om meer kleur te gaan dragen.

Nu ik mijn blogposts van de afgelopen tijd heb doorgenomen om mijn kleurenpalet vast te stellen, valt me op dat blauw en zwart nog steeds vaste gasten zijn in mijn garderobe. Maar lang geen 90% meer, en veel minder donker blauw. Er zijn veel meer kleuren bijgekomen. En veel meer printjes. Vooral veel bloemenprintjes 🙂

Dus, missie geslaagd, geloof ik!

It was much fun making a colour paletten! When I just started sewing I realised why I felt like I always looked the same: 90% of my clothes were either black, dark blue or jeans… Looking back that had a lot to do with insecurity and being affraid to stand out. It was then when I decided that I wanted to wear more colours (though you’ll have to take my word on that as the post is in Dutch only)

Now that I have browsed through my blogpost of the last year or so to establish this palette, I noticed that there is still a lot of black and blue, but nowhere near 90% anymore. The blue’s are lighter, and there are much more colours in there. And prints, especially florals 🙂

So mission accomplished I guess!
