Joehoe, de Sewcialists zijn terug! De blog heeft een poosje stilgelegen maar Gillian heeft hem gereanimeerd. Het eerste thema is ‘tribute month’. Als je meedoet is het de bedoeling dat je iets maakt dat geïnspireerd is door een andere naaister die jou inspireert.

Yay, the Sewcialists are back! The blog was hibernating for a while but Gillian brought it back to life. The first theme is ‘tribute month’: make something insipired by someone that inspires you.

Deze jurk is geïnspireerd door Nanna van How to do fashion. En waar ik zei geïnspireerd door, bedoelde ik eigenlijk schaamteloos gekopieerd van 🙂 Ze maakt en verkoopt niet alleen mooie patronen, maar ziet er ook altijd uit om door een ringetje te halen. Op Instagram liet ze laatst een versie van haar No 5:Aarhus patroon zien in een klein streepje. Dat vond ik zo inspirerend dat ik meteen op zoek ging naar een vergelijkbaar stofje. Het patroon had ik al eerder gekocht en er een testversie van gemaakt, dat was mooi meegenomen. Het paste prima, ik heb alleen twee centimeter lengte uit het lijfje gehaald en het mouwtje iets wijder gemaakt.

This dress is inspired by Nanna from How to do fashion. Wait, did I say inpired by? I meant shamelessly copied from 🙂 She doesn’t only make and sell pretty patterns, she also looks so put together and feminine all the time. Recently she showed a striped version of her No 5:Aarhus pattern on Instagram. I loved it so much that I went off searching for a similar fabric. I already owned the pattern and muslined it recently, so that I was all set. The only changes I made was to remove 2 cm of lenght from the bodice and add a bit of width to the sleeve.

Het is wel duidelijk dat ik niet de rok van het patroon gebruikte. Die bestaat uit 6 panelen, schuin van draad geknipt. Met deze streepjes leek me dat niet zo handig, en ik wilde juist de nadruk laten op hoe mooi de streepjes een V vormen bij de middenvoornaad. De beste oplossing leek me een gerimpelde rok. Deze is één keer de stofbreedte.

Obviously I didn’t use the patterns skirt. It’s a 6-gore bias cut skirt, and I figured the stripe directions would be all over the place. I wanted that pretty V shape at the center front seam to be the center of attention, so I decided to go for a gathered skirt. 

Ik ben echt fan van dit lijfje. De kraag is 😍 en doordat er naast het plooitje verder geen figuurnaden in de voorkant zitten ziet het er heel clean uit. De halslijn is laag, maar smal, een beetje flirterig. De mouwtjes zijn gevoerd en hebben daardoor geen zichtbare zoom. Ze zitten nog een klein beetje strak als ik mijn armen naar voren of naar boven steek, dus ze kunnen nog ietsje wijder, maar verder zitten ze mooi, al zeg ik het zelf.

I’m a big fan of this bodice. The collar is just 😍 and since there is no visible shaping besides the center front pleats, it looks very clean. The neckline is low but also narrow, it just looks perfectly flirtatious. The sleeves are lined so there’s no visible hem. They are still slightly tight when I raise my arms so I’ll add a bit more width for next time, but other than that they look pretty good if I may say so myself.

Door het lichte, gestreepte stofje ziet het er ook nog eens heel zomers uit.

The light, striped fabric makes it a very summery dress.

Er zit een onzichtbare rits in deze zijnaad die voor de verandering ook echt onzichtbaar is, hoera!

There’s an invisible zipper in this side seam, which is truly invisible for a change, hurray!

Het kraagje kun je ook omgevouwen dragen, maar ik vind het rechtop mooier, geloof ik.

You can also fold the collar over, but I like it more when it’s straigt.
