Met iets verkort bovenlijfje, en een iets korter rokje. Het eerste was met opzet, het tweede niet helemaal. Op de een of andere manier dacht ik dat ik 1 meter 20 stof nodig had voor deze jurk, maar dat was dus ietsje meer. Oeps. Gelukkig ging het net aan goed, en lukte het door de mouwen niet recht van draad te knippen.
With a shortened bodice, and a bit shorter skirt. The first part was intentional, the second not so much. Somehow I thought I only needed 1.20 meter of fabric for this dress, but that was a bit more. Oops. Fortunately it worked out, I just cut the sleeves off grain.

In dit exemplaar gebruikte ik ander elastiek dan in het vorige, en op de een of andere manier heb ik dat kennelijk wat uitgerekt bij het naaien. Daardoor is deze wat strakker in de taille dan de vorige.
For this dress I used a different elastic than in the previous one, and apparently I stretched it a bit while sewing it on. It makes this dress a bit tighter at the waist.
Ik gok zo dat dit één van mijn favoriete jurkjes gaat worden!
Wat ik in de vorige blogpost nog was vergeten te zeggen uitstelde naar deze omdat het anders wel een érg lang verhaal werd, is dat ik de band waarmee de halslijn afgewerkt is anders aanzette dan het patroon voorschrijft. KitschyCoo zegt dat je één schouder naait, de nekband aannaait en dan de andere schouder inclusief band aan elkaar naait. Ik vind dat niet zo mooi en dus deed ik de Renfrew methode: schouders naaien, band naaien en dan inzetten. Zo zit de naad van de band mooi middenachter.
I think this one will be one of my favourite dresses!
What I forgot to mention saved for this blogpost because of the lenght of the last one, is that I sewed on the neckband differently than instructed. KitschyCoo tells you to sew one shoulder, stitch on the neckband and then finish the other shoulder and the neckband in one. I don’t like how that looks so I used the Refrew method: stitch the shoulders, sew the neckband and then join them in the round. This way I could place the neckband seam at the center back, which I prefer.

What’s not to love about simple stretchy dresses?! And then you go & make one in this awesome fabric! I can totally see how this is going to become an instant fave.
While I haven’t made a Lady Skater myself, I have made one kind of simliar & it’s withuot doubt one of my most versatile & most worn me-mades. You’ve just remined me that I need to break out that pattern again!
I think this will be a fav too! I had forgotten how comfortable jersey dresses are but I think we fell back in love 🙂

Whaaaa! Die is super mooi! Misschien heb ik nu een beetje spijt dat de mijne lange mouwen heeft. Ach ja, ik heb stof klaar liggen voor nog eentje. Damn ik hou echt van dat stofke! Dat is echt de ideale jurkjes stof! Voor skater dresses koop ik altijd 2 meter. Ook omdat ik meestal pas op het moment zelf beslis of ik lange of korte mouwen wil 🙂
Ja dat is wel slim! Maar ik hou niet zo van restjes dus ik koop altijd zo weinig mogelijk. Misschien moet ik dat maar eens heroverwegen haha!
En die “how much fabric” kaartjes zijn ook super handig! Die gebruik ik kei veel als ik stof ga shoppen

Great fabric, makes me think about Summer picnics in the park! *^o^* I must try to sew more jersey one day, I only made one thick jersey dress and my machine wasn’t too happy about working with it. It’s time to get a new machine I believe.
