Kennelijk hou ik ervan om dingen in setjes te maken. Zoals mijn Cambie jurken en Lady Skaters. Zo ook de Jasper vesten. Direct na de grijze begon ik aan de volgende. Van dezelfde stof maar dan in okergeel én met capuchon dit keer.

Apparently I like making things in pairs. My Cambie dresses for example, or my first two Lady Skaters. This was also the case with the Jasper jackets. Immediately after making the grey one, I started working on the next. In the same fabric but in a lovely mustard yellow, and with a hood this time.

 

 

De capuchon is aan de voorkant ‘origineel’ asymmetrisch. Dat wilde ik in mijn versie graag behouden, het idee was om het asymmetrische deel als een soort flap over de rits heen te laten lopen en dan met knopen te sluiten. Ik had helemaal uitgedacht hoe ik dat zou doen en het pakte ook precies zo uit als ik in gedachten had. Wat ik alleen niet bedacht had, was dat het er door de dikte van de stof Heel Erg Lelijk uitzag… Gelukkig was het niet zo moeilijk om de rits toch maar door het midden te laten lopen 🙂

 

The hood in the pattern is asymmetrical, something I wanted to keep in this jacket version. The idea was to make the asymmetrical part into sort of a ‘flap’ over the zipper and close it with buttons. I figured out how to do that and it worked out that way too. The thing I didn’t take into consideration was the thickness of the fabric and the fact that this made it look Very Ugly… Fortunately it was pretty easy to put the zipper in at CF anyway 🙂

 

Verder was het een makkie om te maken. Deze fleece is heerlijk om te naaien en het patroon zit top in elkaar. Ik weet alleen niet of mijn naaimachine er hetzelfde over denkt. Al die lagen dikke stof pasten soms amper onder mijn boventransportvoet.

Everything else about this jacket was a breeze. This fleece is so lovely to sew and the pattern is really great. I’m not sure wheter my sewing machine feels the same though. Al those thick layers of fabric sometimes barely fitted under my walking foot.

 

 

Op de rug heb ik een beetje wijdte weggehaald en ik heb het patroon met 5 cm verkort. Voor de rest is alles hetzelfde als het vorige exemplaar.

 

I took out some width at the back and shortened the pattern by 5cm. Everything else is the same as the previous jacket.

 

 

De capuchon is lekker groot. Lekker warm ook in de nek! Ik draag dit vest vaak als ik thuiswerk op vrijdag en dan heb ik meestal de capuchon op, heerlijk.

 

The hood is pretty big. Nice and warm in the neck! I work from home on fridays and this is my favourite thing to wear, usually with the hood up. Nice and cosy.

En nog een paar details. Ik ben best een beetje trots op hoe netjes dit vest in elkaar zit. Je kan het niet heel goed zien op de foto’s, maar bij de grijze versie zijn een paar dingen toch wat minder netjes dan dat ik ze graag zou zien. Bij deze gele ben ik over eigenlijk alles heel tevreden.

 

And some details. I’m quite proud of how neatly this jacket is finished. The photo’s did not really show it but the grey version has some things that aren’t as neat as I would like them to be. That’s not the case with this jacket, I’m happy with everything about it.

 

 

Dus, om het even samen te vatten: twee duimen omhoog voor dit vest en voor Paprika Patterns!
