In het vorige bericht vertelde ik al dat ik een tweede versie van het patroon had gemaakt. Dat is deze dus 🙂

As I said in the last post, I made another version of this pattern. Well, here it is 🙂

De stof is een stretch denim met een heel licht zilverkleurig printje. Ik heb de hals voor een beetje uitgediept, twee coupenaadjes in de hals van het achterpand gemaakt en verder de aanpassingen gedaan waar ik in de vorige post over vertelde: de coupenaden in het achterpand van de rok aangepast en de coupenaad in het bovenlijfje afgeknipt en afgelockt zodat de taillenaad niet zo lomp is. Resultaat: een perfecte jurk. Al zeg ik het zelf 😎

The fabric is a stretch denim with a subtle silvery print. I lowered the front neckline a bit, added two darts in the back neckline, and made the adjustments I wrote about in my last post: adjusting the darts in the skirt back and cutting off the outtake of the front darts to reduce bulk in the waist seam. Result: a perfect dress. If I may say so 😎

Het achter- en zij-aanzicht. Ik ben zó blij met deze jurk, alles eraan is 😍. Behalve misschien de armsgaten, die zitten een heel klein tikkeltje hoog, maar die kan ik nog makkelijk even uitdiepen.

The back and side view. I’m so happy with this dress, everything about it is just 😍. Except maybe the underarm seam, which is ever so slightly high. But that’s easy to adjust.

Sorry voor de dames zo pontificaal in beeld, maar hier zie je de zilveren print op de stof het beste.

Het figuurnaadje in de hals achter. Ik nam per kant twee centimeter weg.

The dart in the back neckline. I took out two centimetre from both sides.

De zelfkant van de stof als rand van het loopsplit, gewoon omdat het kan en ik hou van zulke kleine grapjes.

I used the selvedge in the vent, because I like funny little details like that.

Na de goede ervaring die ik had met de jurk uit de Burda van augustus besloot ik om wat vaker dingen uit de Burda te proberen. In het septembernummer stonden een paar patronen die me wel aanspraken, en dit was er eentje van, jurk #116.

After the positive experience with the dress with all the darts from the august issue, I decided to try some more patterns from Burda magazines. The september issue had a few patterns that spoke to me, and this was one of them, dress #116.

Ik heb al een hele tijd een aantal stretch stoffen in mijn voorraad, maar ik vond er nooit echt een geschikt patroon voor. Dit leek me nou precies een patroon voor stretch stoffen. De gekruiste banden liet ik eraf, die vind ik niet zo mooi.

This seemed like a perfect pattern for those stretch woven fabrics I have in my stash but didn’t know which pattern to use with. I left off the ties, because I dont’t like them.

Als eerste gebruikte ik een lichte stretch denim. Ik kocht deze voor een skinny jeans maar bij nader inzien had ik geen idee wat ik daar op zou dragen. Dit is een maat 38 met twee FBA’s: een kleine full bust adjustment en een full butt adjustment. Ook verhoogde ik de oksel met 1.5 centimeter en versmalde ik de mouw wat. Tijdens het maken nam ik nog wat wijdte uit de bovenkant van het rugpand weg en verlengde ik de coupenaden van het achterpand van de rok wat.

First I used this light weight stretch denim. I bought it with the intention to make skinny jeans but I had no idea what I would pair those with, and so it became a dress. It’s a size 38 with two FBA’s: a smal full bust adjustment and a full butt adjustment. I also raised the armhole seam 1.5 centimetre and slimmed down the sleeve a bit. During construction I took out some width from the top of the back bodice and lengthened the back darts in the skirt.

De pasvorm is dikke prima. Ik ben vooral heel blij met hoe de mouwen en het armsgat zitten. De mouw is tweedelig en dat draagt fijn, je ziet gewoon een kleine kromming in de mouw als de jurk op een hangertje hangt. De coupenaden in de rok zijn nog niet helemaal je van het, maar dat heb ik bij een tweede versie van dit patroon verder aangepast en die zijn nu ook goed. De coupenaden bij de buste zijn best groot, en samen met de stof van de plooi in de rok geeft dat een vrij lompe taillenaad. Bij de volgende versie heb ik de coupenaad afgeknipt en gelockt en dat lijkt een stuk mooier.

The fit is pretty nice. I really like the sleeve/armhole fit. This is a two-piece sleeve, you can see the curve in the sleeve when the dress just hangs on a hanger. The darts in the skirt need a bit of work, but I’ve changed them in a second version of this dress and they are fine now too. The bust darts are quite big, and together with the fabric from the pleats in the skirt it makes for a bulky waist seam. In the second version of this dress I cut off the dart outtake and overlocked it, which looks much better.

Maar goed, voor een proefversie is dit toch een prima draagbaar exemplaar. Ik heb ‘m al een paar keer gedragen en er veel complimenten over gekregen. Door de stretch in de stof is het een een heel comfortabel jurkje. Met de aanpassingen die ik na deze versie deed heb ik nu een TNT (Tried  and True) patroon voor stretch jurken, dus kan ik eindelijk ook aan dat deel van mijn stoffenvoorraad beginnen. Mooi op tijd voor de TNT-maand van de Sewcialists 🎉

But, all in all, this is a perfectly wearable muslin. I’ve worn it a couple of times already and received a lot of compliments on it. The stretch in the fabric makes it a very comfortable dress as well. So after adjusting the pattern I now finally have a TNT pattern for stretch wovens, which means I can finally sew up that part of the stash. Just in time for TNT-month of the Sewcialists 🎉
